Sonia Rykiel Spring 2009 Paris collection has a bit of garçon in it, the black velvet smoking or a plaid waistcost worn with pleat-front trousers. Though there was a lot of girlyness in it as well. And even though I'm 100% against ruffles in any form, Rykiel seemed to make it work on double-breasted velvet coats, or streaming down the front of a light purple dress; Rykiel used black, blue and a bronze palet for tank dresses and simple block colours for knits. Mademe Rykiel seemed pleasantly happy that she still has the power to wow the crowds in Paris.
